Mathinna is a town out from Fingal out towards the east coast. Gold used to be mined out there as recently as 1990’s by a Russian mining company. More recent exploration might mean the mine is opened again. Workers were left stranded when it closed down and a couple of Russians were never heard from again.
A person I worked with owns an old Catholic Church high on a hill. Free camped on his block. Church is heritage listed. No water or power so it was our first free camp for 5 nights.
From the Outside
Next to go around the Church
Next for a little confessing
Stained glass window still intact
Timber walls and ceiling
Some repair work is required after 115 years
The outside has stood the test of time even though vandals visit now and again
Going around the outside
Notice the stone foundations
This building has stood the test of time
Nice old Church
